PCB Assembly / SMT Process

Solder Paste Inspection (SPI)

  • The PCB is coated with "solder paste," and an automated machine inspects the paste for "accurate alignment" and "correct application."
  • The inspection process helps prevent issues such as "insufficient or excess solder" and "misaligned components."

  • 1st Step

    Component Placement

  • Automated machines "precisely position" the components onto the solder paste on the PCB.
  • The machines use machine vision and sensors to ensure "accurate alignment" with the PCB's pads.
  • The components are picked up from their reels or trays and placed onto the PCB in the "correct orientation" and position.
  • 2nd Step

    Reflow Soldering

  • The entire assembly undergoes a controlled heating process in a "reflow oven," melting the solder paste and "bonding" the components to the PCB.
  • 3rd Step

    Reflow Automated Optical Inspection (AOI)

  • An AOI machine inspects the PCB for defects such as "misplaced components," "solder bridges," or "insufficient solder joints."
  • 4th Step

    in-Circuit Testing (ICT)

  • An ICT machine tests the "electronic functionality" of the PCB to ensure that it meets the "required specifications."
  • 5th Step

    Functional Testing

  • The PCB undergoes a "functional test" to ensure that it performs the intended function "under different conditions.
  • 6th Step

    Packaging

  • The PCBs are "packed" into appropriate packaging, such as trays or reels, to "protect" them during transportation and storage
  • 7th Step

    Shipping

  • The finished PCBs are "shipped" to their destination, ready to be assembled into electronic products.
  • 8th Step

    Frequently Asked Question

SMT PCBA is the process of surface-mount technology (SMT) used in the assembly of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs). It involves mounting electronic components on the surface of a printed circuit board using automated equipment.

SMT PCBA offers several benefits, including smaller board size, improved functionality, higher component density, reduced costs, and increased production speed.

We ensure quality control by conducting thorough inspections at every stage of the process, including incoming materials, assembly, and final testing. We also use advanced equipment and processes to detect and eliminate defects.

SMT PCBA can accommodate a wide range of electronic components, including resistors, capacitors, transistors, diodes, and integrated circuits (ICs).

    1.

The turnaround time for SMT PCBA depends on the complexity of the design and the quantity of components required. We work closely with our customers to provide accurate estimates and ensure timely delivery.

We work with a network of reliable suppliers to source components and minimize any impact on production. We also maintain safety stock levels and offer alternative solutions to mitigate any shortages.

Yes, we specialize in high-volume production for SMT PCBA and have the capacity to meet the needs of customers with large-scale production requirements.

Yes, we have experienced engineers who can provide design assistance to optimize the SMT PCBA process and improve the overall functionality and efficiency of the final product.

We have strict confidentiality protocols in place and only share information with authorized personnel involved in the production process. We also use secure storage and data management systems to protect customer designs and specifications.

We hold several certifications, including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, which demonstrate our commitment to quality and environmental management. We also comply with Underwriter Laboratories certifications, for safethy regulations
